    Pay per click

    What is pay-per-click advertising?

Ads at the top of Google, paid for by the click, that put your business in front of people the moment they search for what you do.

    How it works

When someone in Midland searches for a paving contractor, an RV park or a bounce house rental, the first things on the page are ads. Google shows them above the map and above the regular results, and you pay only when somebody clicks one.

Local SEO earns that spot over months. Pay-per-click buys it this week. The two work best together: the ads bring calls while the listing and the website climb, and the searches people use to find the ads tell us what the website should say.

The catch is that an ad account spends money whether or not it is set up well. Most of the small-business accounts we read were paying for the wrong searches, in the wrong towns, with no way to tell which clicks ever became a call. That is the part we fix.

When the pieces below work together, the ads stop being an expense you hope pays off and become a line you can read every month: what you spent, what people searched, and how many called.

    What the monthly work includes

    • Ad account setup, or a clean-up of the one you have
    • Keyword research for your trade and towns
    • Ad copy written for the job, not copied from another trade
    • Negative keywords: the searches you do not want to pay for
    • Location targeting by town
    • Call and message assets on the ads
    • Every call and form counted
    • A check of the page the ads land on
    • One short report a month, in plain English

    Why it works

Be the first name they see when they are ready to call

People searching for a contractor, a storage unit or a place to park the RV are not browsing. They have a job to get done, and they call one of the first names on the page. If that is not you, it is a competitor.

We build the campaign around the jobs you actually want, in the towns you work, written so the right person taps to call. Then we manage it every month: what people searched for, what the clicks cost, which ones called, and what to change.

One RV park we manage took over 60 calls from its ads in a single month. A paving contractor we manage gets job requests through the website every week, on top of the phone calls.

    • Ads for the jobs you want more of
    • The towns you work, and nothing else
    • Wrong searches blocked as they show up
    • Your phone number on the ad itself
    • Every call and form counted
    • Changes every month, in writing

    Where the ads run

Google first. Other platforms when they fit.

Most local businesses get the best return from Google Search, so that is where every account starts. The rest is added when the numbers say it will pay.

    Google Search ads
The core of every account we manage. Your ad shows at the top of Google when someone nearby searches for what you do, with your phone number on it. You pay per click, we block the searches that waste money, and every call and form is counted.
Google Maps and Local Services Ads
Ads can carry your business location so they show on the map, and some trades qualify for Local Services Ads, the Google Guaranteed listings at the very top where you pay per lead rather than per click. We tell you whether your trade qualifies and set it up when it does.
    Microsoft Advertising (Bing)
Bing carries a share of searches, often older and desktop users, and clicks there usually cost less. Once the Google campaign is proven we can mirror it on Microsoft Advertising with a small added budget.
    Facebook and Instagram ads
Meta ads reach people by who they are and where they live rather than what they searched for. They suit RV parks, event rentals and seasonal offers more than emergency trades. We run them alongside search when there is a reason to.
    YouTube, display and remarketing
Image and video ads keep your name in front of people who already visited the website or searched for your trade. Cheap per view, and best used to bring back the ones who did not call the first time.

    What we run

The kinds of ads we build

Each one has a job. Search ads do most of the work for a local business; the rest are added when they earn their place.

    01

    Search ads

Text ads at the top of Google for the searches that mean someone needs you now: asphalt paving in Midland, an RV park near Odessa, a bounce house for Saturday. The workhorse of every local account.

    02

    Call ads

Ads built so the tap is a phone call, with your number on the ad and call reporting switched on, so a call from an ad is counted as a call from an ad.

    03

    Local Services Ads

Google Guaranteed listings above the regular ads for the trades that qualify. You pay per lead, not per click, and we handle the verification and dispute the leads that were not real.

    04

    Remarketing

Follow-up ads for people who visited the website and left without calling. They see your name again on the sites and apps they use, and come back when they are ready.

    05

    Display and YouTube

Image and video ads across Google’s network for awareness: a new RV park opening, a seasonal paving push, an event venue. Cheap reach, used with a purpose.

    06

    Microsoft Advertising

The same search campaign mirrored on Bing once Google has proven it, for the share of people who search there. Lower click costs, a small added budget, the same tracking.

    How it goes

    Four steps.
    Then the phone rings.

The same rhythm for every account, whether it is new or one we take over.

    01

    Read and scope

We read your current account, or price the clicks for your trade and towns if there is none yet. You get a short written scope: the jobs, the towns, the budget you set, and what we will do.

    Day 1 to 2
    02

    Build

Campaigns, ad groups, ads written for your trade, the searches to block, location targeting by town, call assets, and tracking that counts every call and form. We check the page the ads land on before anything runs.

    Week 1
    03

    Launch and count

The ads go live within days of the scope, and calls usually follow in the first week. We watch the search terms daily at the start and block the ones that waste money as they show up.

    Week 1 to 2
    04

    Monthly read

One short report a month in plain English: what you spent, what people searched, how many called, and what we changed. If the numbers do not justify the spend, we say so.

Why Basin Hosting & Web Design

Who manages the ads matters more than the platform

The same budget can bring in calls or disappear, depending on who reads the account and how often.

    In-house

    Doing it yourself

Google makes it easy to start and easy to keep spending.

    • Set up once, then it runs on Google’s defaults
    • Search terms rarely read, so the waste stays
    • Clicks counted, calls usually not
    • Google’s recommendations applied for you, budget included
    • Hours taken from the jobs that pay
    Big agency

    A typical agency

A template built for another trade, and a dashboard to explain it.

    • A junior account manager you did not choose
    • A dashboard of clicks and impressions
    • The budget judged by spend, not by calls
    • Website and listing handled by someone else, or not at all
    • A ticket queue when something breaks

    FAQ

    PPC marketing questions

Still wondering about something? Call (432) 301-9327 or send a note, straight answers, no sales script.

    What is PPC marketing?
Pay-per-click marketing is advertising where you pay only when someone clicks your ad. On Google that means the ads at the top of the results page. It is the fastest way to put your business in front of people the moment they search for what you do.
How fast can the ads bring in calls?
Ads can be running within days of the scope, and calls usually follow in the first week. Local SEO takes months to build; ads are how you get the phone ringing while it does.
How much should I spend on ads?
It depends on your trade and your towns, because a click costs more for some searches than others. We tell you what clicks cost in your area before anything runs, and you set the budget. What you spend on the ads is paid to Google directly.
How do I know the ads are working?
Every call and form from the ads is counted, and you get one short report a month that says what came in. If the numbers do not justify the spend, we say so.
Do I need a new website to run ads?
Not always. Ads need a page that loads fast on a phone, says what you do, and makes the call obvious. If your site does that, we use it. If it does not, a single landing page is often enough to start.
PPC or local SEO, which one do I need?
Usually both, and the ads come first because they are faster. Ads bring calls this week. Local SEO builds the map and search presence that keeps bringing them without a cost per click. We run them together so each one feeds the other.
Do you run ads on Facebook or Bing too?
Yes, when they fit. Google Search is where most local businesses get the best return, so every account starts there. Microsoft Advertising, Facebook and Instagram, YouTube and remarketing are added when the numbers say they will pay.
Why hire someone instead of running it myself?
You can run Google Ads yourself, and Google will happily apply its own recommendations for you. The accounts we take over usually show what that costs: budget spent on searches that never become a call, and no way to tell which ones did. Managing it well is daily work at the start and a careful read every month after. That is what you are paying for.
